Frosted Lamp

For this piece, the most difficult part was putting everything together so that it looked like one cohesive unit. Most of the parts are individual subtools that I then merged together, so in terms of actual sculpting the roots are definitely what had the most attention. Getting them to bend was a challenge in of itself, but not unmanageable. The biggest challenge here was starting from nothing and figuring out the best way to bring a reference image to life; and the negative space between the top of the post and the actual light is a great example of this. Making those bits of metal thin was a challenge in of itself, and finally I figured out how to flatten them along an axis. The other big challenge was keeping the whole thing clean, since it was supposed to be a lamp and (for the most part) not appear organic. In the end I'm happy with how it turned out and enjoy the simplicity of it.
